Jokoor Inc ("Jokoor", "we", "our" or "us") is committed to protecting your personal information
and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store, share and
protect information when you use any Jokoor product or website, including Jokoor Pay (payment
processing), Jokoor Books (business and accounting software), Jokoor SMS (business messaging)
and our customer messaging tools for WhatsApp.
Please read this policy carefully. By using our services you agree to the practices described
here. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Account and business information
- Contact details: name, email address, phone number, business address
- Account credentials
- Business and identity verification (KYC) information required to provide payment services
through Jokoor Pay, such as registration documents and identification of business owners
2.2 Information you process through our services
- Payment and transaction records (Jokoor Pay)
- Business records such as invoices, products, customers and accounting data (Jokoor Books)
- Customer contact lists you upload or create (Jokoor SMS and CRM)
- Message content and delivery logs for SMS and WhatsApp messages
2.3 Technical information
- IP address and approximate location
- Device information such as browser type and operating system
- Usage data such as pages visited, features used and timestamps
- Cookies and similar technologies
3. How We Use Your Information
- To provide, operate and maintain our services
- To process payments and complete transactions
- To deliver SMS and WhatsApp messages to your recipients as directed by you
- To keep your business records and reports available to you
- To provide customer support and respond to inquiries
- To improve our services and develop new features
- To detect, prevent and address fraud, abuse and technical issues
- To comply with legal and regulatory obligations
4. WhatsApp Business Data
When a business connects its WhatsApp Business account to Jokoor, we act as a technology
provider processing data on behalf of that business. This includes:
- The content of WhatsApp messages sent and received through the platform
- Customer phone numbers and conversation metadata
- WhatsApp Business Account (WABA) details such as the business phone number ID and account
identifiers
WhatsApp conversation data is processed only to deliver the messaging service to the business
you are communicating with. WhatsApp conversation data is not used to train artificial
intelligence or machine learning models.
Conversations handled through Jokoor always have a path to a human: businesses using Jokoor can
read and respond to customer messages directly, and customers can request a human response at
any time.
Data exchanged over WhatsApp is also subject to the WhatsApp Business Terms and Meta's own policies.
5. Data Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes set out in this
policy, to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce our agreements.
- Message logs and content (SMS and WhatsApp) are typically retained for 6 months
- Payment, transaction and identity verification records are retained for the periods required
by financial regulations in The Gambia
- Business records in Jokoor Books remain available for as long as your account is active
6. Data Security
We use commercially reasonable security measures to protect your information, including
encryption in transit and at rest for sensitive credentials, access controls and regular
security reviews. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot
guarantee absolute security.
7. Data Sharing and Third Parties
We share information only as needed to provide our services:
- Telecommunications providers and SMS gateways, to deliver SMS messages
- Meta Platforms, to deliver WhatsApp messages through the WhatsApp Business Platform
- Payment processors, partner banks and mobile money providers, to complete transactions
- Cloud service providers, for hosting and data storage
- Professional advisers such as lawyers, auditors and insurers
- Regulatory authorities when required by law, including the Public Utilities Regulatory
Authority (PURA) in The Gambia
We do not sell your personal information.
8. Your Data Protection Rights
- The right to access, update or delete your information
- The right to correct inaccurate data
- The right to object to or restrict our processing of your data
- The right to receive your data in a portable format
- The right to withdraw consent

Our services are not intended for individuals under the age of 18 and we do not knowingly
collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have collected personal
information from a child, we will take steps to delete it.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this
page and update the date at the top. Significant changes will be communicated to account
holders.
