Data Deletion Instructions

1. Who can request deletion

  • Account holders: any business or individual with a Jokoor account can request deletion of their account and associated data
  • End customers: if a business processes your data through Jokoor (for example your phone number in a contact list, or messages you exchanged with a business over SMS or WhatsApp), you can request deletion directly from us or from that business

2. How to request deletion

Email hello@jokoor.com with the subject line "Data deletion request" and include:

  • The email address or phone number associated with the account or data
  • Whether you are a Jokoor account holder or an end customer of a business using Jokoor
  • What you want deleted: the full account, or specific data such as a phone number

We will verify the request, confirm receipt and complete the deletion within 30 days. We may ask for additional information to verify your identity before deleting data.

3. What gets deleted

  • Account profile and credentials
  • Contact lists and customer records you uploaded
  • SMS and WhatsApp message content and delivery logs
  • WhatsApp Business credentials and connection details
  • Business records in Jokoor Books, where you are the account holder

Exception: we must retain certain records where the law requires it. Payment, transaction and identity verification records are kept for the periods required by financial regulations in The Gambia, even after an account is deleted. These records are no longer used for any other purpose. See our Privacy Policy for the retention periods that apply to each category of data.

4. WhatsApp-specific deletion

  • Disconnecting your WhatsApp integration from Jokoor immediately deletes your stored WhatsApp credentials
  • WhatsApp message content and logs are deleted on request, and are in any case retained no longer than 6 months
  • Copies of WhatsApp conversations may also exist with Meta or on the customer's device; those copies are outside Jokoor's control
